Recent Changes in Ontario PNP Benefits Trucking Industry in Province
Ontario province’s trucking industry is profiting from the latest change made to the Ontario province’s In-Demand Skills Stream.

The transport truck drivers (NOC code 7511) were one of three professions added to the Ontario PNP stream on July 2019. It indicates that experienced truck drivers with an employment offer in Ontario province can now receive provincial support in getting Canadian PR.

Canada’s trucking industry handles a huge difficulty with staffing deficits, finding it hard to bring a younger generation of drivers into the profession.

As a portion of the July 2019 changes, Canada’s most populated province also decreased the work experience demand through the stream, to 9 months within the previous three years. Previously, applicants were expected to have 1-year work experience in the previous three years.

The In-Demand Skills Stream developments are part of a raft of latest proposals published in the budget of Ontario in April.

After the consultation with the public that closed on 30 May 2019, Ontario approved the reforms in an Ontario PNP announcement on 8 July 2019.

The other two professions attached to the stream in July 2019 were:

  • Nurse aides, patient service AND orderlies associates (NOC 3413)
  • Home support workers and similar professions, excluding housekeepers (NOC 4412)
