Foreign graduates can once again provide their applications for a PR selection certificate by the Quebec Experience Program (P.E.Q).

Immigration Ministry of Quebec (MIFI) resumed the P.E.Q’s graduate stream on 1 November after discontinuing it in July.

Temporary international workers with suitable work experience in Quebec can remain appealing to the Quebec Experience Program as before.

Latest PEQ Eligibility Requirements for Graduates and Workers

New and pending appeals for both the graduate and temporary international worker streams of the Quebec Experience Program will now have to satisfy updated eligibility criteria that were published earlier this week.

Foreign students who finished a program of minimum 900-hours (one year) in Quebec province can now apply to the Quebec Experience Program as long as they have a minimum of 6 months of work experience in their field of training that was received after graduating.

This work experience requirement is not needed for the candidates who finished a program of 1,800 hours (2 years) or higher.

All global graduates applying to the Quebec Experience Program must now have training in a suitable area of training.

New work experience criteria impacting temporary immigrant workers whose job is considered under skill level C or D by Canadian National Occupation Classification (N.O.C). These applicants need to have 18 months of work experience meanwhile applicants working an in-demand profession that is rated skill level 0, A or B only needs 12 months of work experience.

New Language Requirement

Starting from 1 January 2020, language criteria for both student and worker stream candidates and their spouses will also modify. Both appellants and their spouses will have to show an advanced intermediate knowledge of the French language. They need to pass in a standardized language examination which is approved by the Quebec Government.

The Quebec Investor Program is now terminated until 1 July 2020. Individuals who can invest $1.2 million in Quebec province will not be able to appeal for a permanent selection by this Investor program.
