PEI Immigration Holds The PNP Draw And Issues 135 Invitations -30th July, 2019

In the EOI draw held on July 18 Prince Edward Island has targeted candidates belonging to the Express Entry Labor Impact, as well as Business Impact category. 135 invitations were issued by using its PEI PNP. The candidates belonging to the Labor Impact and Express Entry received 118 invitations; with Business Impact candidates received 17 invitations.

PEI began the Expression of Interest system in 2018, and holds monthly draws.

The awaited Draw Dates in 2019 PEI Expression of Interest are:

  • Aug 15th
  • Sep 19th
  • Oct 17th
  • Nov 21st
  • Dec 19th

PEI has held seven draws in 2019, and has so far invited 922 aspirants, of which 789 are through the Express Entry / Labor Impact streams and 133 are through the Business Impact stream.

In 2018, PEI had issued 1,446 invitations totally after the operations in the Expression of Interest system.

Among these, the share of Express Entry / Labor Impact streams was 1,240 and of the Business Impact candidates it was 206. Additionally, its largest draw was held on Oct 18, 2018, in which it invited 297 candidates.

Prince Edward Island Stream in Express Entry

The operation of the EE category in the PEI is based on considering candidates who by now exist in the federal Pool, seeking the nomination from the province. Subsequent to such nomination they gain 600 points in their CRS score that guarantees them to get the Invitation to Apply for immigration to Canada. There are two paths to get the permanent residence, and the first caters to candidates having the job offer and second for those who are not having the job offer.

Prince Edward Island Labor Impact Category

1) Skilled Worker Stream

The above stream focuses on employers and allows professional workers who have the job offer in PEI to obtain the nomination for Permanent residence in Canada after they meet the under-listed criteria:

An employment offer (full time) from a provincial business in an job classified as skill level 0/A or B in the National Occupational Classification;

  • Finishing post-secondary curriculum, having the minimum period of 14 years in education;
  • Age must be in the range of 21 to 55 years;
  • Work experience of Two years (full time) in the last five years;
  • Basic proficiency in English/French for doing the job;
  • Enough settlement funds;
  • An intention to settle in PEI

Critical Worker Stream

The category aims to address labor shortages and admits overseas workers who are already employed in PEI in specific demand areas. The nomination criteria are:

An employment (full time) from a local business in any of these occupations:

  • Customer service representatives;
  • Truck drivers;
  • Laborers;
  • Housekeeping attendants
  • Food & beverage servers;
  • 6 months of local work experience in the business that offers employment;
  • Current Canadian work permit that is valid;
  • School diploma and 12 years of formal education;
  • Age must be in the range of 21 and 55 years;
  • Two years of work experience (full time) in the last five years;
  • Basic proficiency in English/French for doing the job;
  • Enough settlement funds;
  • An intention to settle in PEI

Prince Edward Island Business Impact Category

Work Permit Stream

Persons who apply in the P.E.I. Work Permit Stream have to obtain a work permit and also work for a local business for a specific time as per the Performance Agreement. After fulfilling the Performance Agreement the aspirant has to invest $150,000 in the business and also manage it on a daily basis from within the Island.

There was a direct PR Business Stream previously, but it was closed in Sep 2018 owing to a few concerns.
