Ontario Plans to Add Nursing Related Professions to In-Demand Stream -29th November, 2019

Ontario Plans to Add Nursing Related Professions to In-Demand Stream
The latest change to Ontario's Employer Job Offer In-Demand Skills Stream produces a new avenue to Canada for applicants with skills and relevant work experience in nursing-related professions.

In July 2019, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee (OINP) Program moved to add 3 codes of National Occupational Classification to the stream, two of which were directed at personal care workers.

The 2 NOC codes are listed below:

  • Nurse aides, patient service associates and orderlies (N.O.C 3413)
  • Home support workers and related professions, excluding housekeepers (N.O.C 4412)
The additions are specially intended to target personal care workers, as stated in Ontario’s accompanying announcement. The motive for the additions was to support changing labor market requirements, the province announced.

As a piece of the corresponding change, the 3rd NOC code was added to the stream to target truck drivers (NOC 7511).

Following a public consultation that closed on 30 May 2019, Ontario published the reforms on 8 July 2019.
