New Updates on Australian Immigration

Reviewing of Skilled Migration Professions List begins by the Department of Skills, Employment, Small and Family Business that periodically evaluates the skilled migration profession lists to assure they are responsive to actual skill requirements across Australia. The following update on Australian skilled migration profession lists is scheduled to be published in March 2020.

Australian yearly permanent migration intake has dropped to the weakest level in over a decade, with a sum of 160,323 permanent visas given in 2018-19 below the Permanent Migration Program, which is falling by 15%. The drop in numbers corresponds with the government’s move towards settling a higher number of migrants in Australian regional area and the federal government is intending to address the problem of low regional employment by establishing places aside for skilled international workers.

Skilled Regional (Provisional) (Subclass 489) Visa to be substituted with Subclass 491 from 16 Nov 2019- The subclass 489 visa will end from 16 Nov 2019. The Australian Government’s Home Affairs  Department have published that the last day for territories and states to nominate and announce invitations to apply for the subclass 489 appellants will be 10 Sept2019. New visas will start from 16 Nov 2019 those are subclass 491 visa and subclass 494 visas.
