HCP Stream of Ontario achieves its Registration Intake target
The HCP stream of Ontario is very popular with the immigrants and has achieved its Registration Intake target within five days of its opening. It was opened for registration on November 2nd. This PNP stream is aligned with the Express Entry and forms a major part of the OINP. It is a huge source available to the province to greet newcomers possessing abilities to integrate well into the employment market of the province.

At present, there is no possibility that any additional registrations will be accepted. The program is likely to issue more NOIs for the qualifying Express Entry candidates before the closure of the year 2017.

OINP has agreed to monitor the present intake of applications and match it with the provisions of federal nomination allotment for Ontario. This will help in determining if any more applications can be taken up for admission in this stream.

NOIs are very similar to an invitation to apply. In the OINP Human Capital Priorities stream, the process to get an NOI is passive and immigration authorities of the province search the Express Entry pool to call qualified potential aspirants. It does not guarantee that meeting the eligibility norms in the stream will lead to issuing the NOI.

Eligibility:

Eligibility norms are mentioned below:

  • Candidates need to have an Express Entry pool profile and must score 400 CRS points. The score should remain at 400 or above during the nomination processing stage, and also at the federal application stage for PR processing;
  • Candidates must have some work experience;
  • Candidates who select assessment under FSWC criteria must have a year of continuous (full-time) employment experience, under a NOC level 0, A, or B occupation, during the past five years before the Notification date.
  • Candidates who select assessment under CEC criteria must have a year of cumulative and full-time employment experience under a NOC 0, A, or B occupation in Canada during the past three years before the Notification date.
  • Candidates need to possess a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. degree OR an Educational Assessment report, which is given by a reputed designated organization, representing that the foreign land education credential is equivalent of a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. qualification prevalent in Canada;

In addition:

  • They must also have English or French language proficiency level CLB7 in all four competencies;
  • They must also have the intention to live in Ontario;
  • They must also have sufficient funds to cover costs in Ontario;
  • The criteria laid out in the FSWP or CEC must be fulfilled.

The province can remove certain requirements for candidates to score 400 CRS points, as it did in June 2017 when certain candidates with Information and Communications Technology Sector work experience were exempted from certain provisions.

Ontario has announced these updates regarding the HCP stream.

  • Notifications of Interest issued before November 1, 2017, are valid for a period of six months and all the applicants must apply for the HCP Stream in the OINP e-Filing Portal, after six months of receiving it.
  • NOI issued after November 1st, 2017, is valid until December 31st, 2017 only.
  • All NOIs which have been issued during the year 2017 will not be valid after December 31, 2017,
  • Candidates Approved and nominated for allocation of application in the OINP for 2017, will receive the certificate of nomination in the early part of 2018.
