First Tech Draw in Ontario Invites 1623 Express Entry Candidates -16th July, 2019

Ontario immigration held its first Tech Draw on July 12th. It issued 1,623 Notifications of Interest to Express Entry candidates in the Human Capital Priorities stream to candidates with a CRS score of 439 points.

The qualifying norms specify that the candidates must have created a profile in Express Entry between July 12, 2018 and July 12, 2019.

  • Ontario had made the announcement regarding starting Tech Draws with a focus on these specific technology occupations:
  • Interactive media developers and Computer programmers (NOC 2174)
  • Software designers and engineers NOC 2173
  • Computer engineers NOC 2147
  • Web developers and designers NOC 2175
  • Database administrators/analysts NOC 2172 and
  • Information systems managers and Computer managers NOC 0213
  • The aim of these draws was to address provincial labor shortages in the technology sector.

Candidates also had to meet specific HCP requirements and have work experience in the above mentioned occupations.

The selected Candidates of the Express Entry pool get a NOI through their IRCC account and get 45 days for submitting the full application.

Ontario focuses on technology occupations, and has launched a fresh Business Immigration Service team. Committed staff will help the employers to fill up the vacancies in the tech sector. The Employers will be in a position to obtain the latest information, regarding processing times of application and nominations issued to date.

Requirements for the Ontario Express Entry: H.C.P. Stream

The qualifying norms for the applicants are:

  • Having an Ongoing profile in the Express Entry system and earning the qualification in FSWP/CEC.
  • Holding one year full time, or equal work experience in  NOC occupation level 0/A or B, during the last five years when they apply in FSWP, or during the last three years when they apply in CEC.
  • Holding the equivalent of a Bachelors degree in Canada
  • Showing language proficiency of NCLC/ CLB level 7 in English /French
  • Wishing to take up residence in Ontario
  • Residing legally in Canada,
  • Evidence of necessary funds for settlement
