Alberta Invited 3,357 Candidates in 2019 to Seek Provincial Nomination -15th May, 2019

As per the new information Alberta has conducted 14 draws in the immigration streams aligned with the Express Entry so far in 2019. Additionally, it has issued 3,357 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination totally.  The beneficiaries can seek permanent residence in Canada. For some of the Express Entry candidates, the Comprehensive Ranking System score was 300.

The details

Such nominated candidates of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program get 600 additional points in the CRS score. This is an effective guarantee to get the invitation seeking Canadian PR.

The norm for Alberta nomination is that the candidates must be eligible for a federal immigration program in the Express Entry System. These are:

  • Federal Skilled Trades Class
  • Federal Skilled Worker Class,
  • Canadian Experience Class

Also, they need to have a profile in the Express Entry pool.

Alberta has the presence of Edmonton and Calgary cities, which are popular with the immigrants.  The main drivers of its economy are Oil and gas production. Presently new sectors like health services, information technology, and other industries are getting prominence in the province. The government is also working for diversifying beyond energy.

Additional facts

The Alberta Express Entry Stream was introduced in 2018 and permits the province for searching the federal EE pool to select immigration candidates meeting the specific eligibility requirements. Subsequently, it invites them to seek the provincial nomination.

All Express Entry candidates should have a CRS score of 300 and also work in an occupation which supports diversification priorities and economic development, of the province. The eligibility norms do not require a job offer or previous work in Alberta.  Moreover, the AINP states that the candidates having a job offer or work experience in the province, or a degree holder of the Canadian post-secondary institution or close relatives already residing in Alberta gets a priority to get the invitation seeking the provincial nomination.

Important statistics

The lowest score in the federal Express Entry draws during the present year is 438. The Alberta Express Entry Stream conducted its largest draw on March 5 in which it issued 473 Notifications of Interest. These are issued to EE candidates that are identified by the AINP after the search of the federal pool. Additionally, the candidates receiving the NOI get 30 days for submitting the complete application seeking Alberta provincial nomination.

These factors decrease the possibility of receiving NOI in the Alberta Express Entry Stream:

  • Expiry of Express Entry profile within 3 months
  • working in an occupation in the province of Alberta that is present on the list of online signifying refusal of  Government of Canada to Process an LMIA;
  • working in an Ineligible Occupations list job on the Alberta Opportunity Stream;
  • A work which has a high volume of submissions in the provincial streams.

This is positive news for candidates in Express Entry and those who have a lower CRS score.
